The Pressure Network Design Capabilities of AutoCAD Civil 3D

Additional Exercise;

In this exercise, you learned about the pressure network design capabilities of AutoCAD Civil 3D. You also created a pressure network from objects and by using the layout tools. You then checked your design for issues related to deflection, and depth. You then edited the pressure network using grips, and you learned about the many types of grips and their functions. Finally, you learned about the specialized ribbon tabs that house the plan layout tools and profile layout tools, and you used those tools to make edits to the design.

Open the drawing named Pressure Networks Beyond.dwg located in the Chapter 15 class data folder.

This drawing contains the pressure networks that you’ve created up to this point. Continue developing the water supply network by doing the following:
  • Add a tee at circle H.
  • Use the plan layout tools to create a waterline layout that begins at the tee at circle H and runs along the north side of Madison Lane. Stay between the right-of-way and the curb. End the waterline near the intersection of Madison Lane and Logan Court.
  • Draw the new waterline in the Madison Lane profile view.
  • Use the Design Check command to check for deflection issues. Fix any that arise.
  • Use the Depth Check command to check that the cover is between 4.5' (1.5m) and 10' (3.5m). Correct any violations.
